NEW YORK -- The American Stock Exchange has begun trading options on the shares of First Security Corp., Summit Bancorp., and Mercantile Bancorp. First Security will trade under the symbol FQB and will have initial expiration months of December 1994, January, March, and June 1995, as will the other new listings. Summit trades under the symbol UTQ. Merchantile trades under the symbol MTL.
The Cleveland-based bank is projecting steady growth in net interest income even as credit losses remain manageable. But Chairman and CEO Chris Gorman also said that he thinks a recession is likely.
