Melcher named president, CEO of Security National in Pottstown, Pa.

Raymond H. Melcher Jr., a former community banker, is remining to the industry as president and chief executive officer of Security National Bank, Pottstown, Pa.

As an adviser to the bank's founders, Mr. Melcher later went on to negotiate and manage a 20% equity investment in Security during his tenure as executive vice president of Keystone Financial Inc., Harrisburg.

Security National, which opened in 1988, has grown to a two-branch, $40 million-asset bank, and is now a subsidiary of Harleysville National Corp., the $775 million-asset bank holding company in Harleysville, Pa.

In addition, Security National plans to open a third branch in the near future in a proposed Wal-Mart-anchored shopping center.

Mr. Melcher is leaving the private sector, where since 1990 he has been an executive vice president, chief operating officer, and director of Hi-Tech Connections Inc., Reading, a multiregion computer network integration and professional services firm.

He was with Keystone Financial from 1988 to 1990 as executive vice president of the banking group and a member of the executive committee. From 1986 to 1988, Mr. Melcher was president and CEO of Pennsylvania National Bank, a Keystone Financial subsidiary

He spent nine years (1977-86) at National Bank of Boyertown, now National Penn Bank.
