WASHINGTON -- Securities and Exchange Commission member J. Carter Beese Jr. formally left the SEC on Monday to rejoin the investment banking firm of Alex. Brown & Sons.
The Baltimore-based firm announced yesterday that the 38-year-old Beese has been named a vice president in charge of the firm's international capital markets group. Beese had been with the firm before he became an SEC commissioner.
Beese announced his departure from the SEC earlier this month but did not disclose that he would return to Alex. Brown. He only said he would serve as a senior adviser and chairman of a new group of industry leaders to be formed to study regulatory reform of the capital markets. The group will be established under the auspices of the Center for Strategie and International Studies, a Washington-based think tank.
