Tokyo Bank buy Platon Software.

IMS Business System Corp., a software development company based in New York, signed a contract with Cho Hung Bank, Tokyo, to install banking application software known as Platon.

The application was developed to decipher two forms of the Japanese alphabet, Hirakana and Katakana, as well as Chinese characters known as Kanji.

To comprehend Chinese characters, the required amount of byte codes must be exponentially stored. IMS has used double byte codes from single ones to develop the application.

Installation at Cho Hung Bank is planned for November. It will run on an IBM RS/6000, a Unix platform.
