Paribas' own system manages risk exposure.

Paribas Capital Markets Group, the trading arm of Banque Paribas, is rolling out a system designed to maintain the bank's global book and manage the organization's exposure to risk.

Designated Sam, for subscription administration and management, it was built using a platform from Kapiti Inc., an international banking software developer based in London. The system, which was developed in-house at Paribas, will be licensed to other Kapiti clients.

It was designed to handle the realtime transfer of data across Paribas' global network in an effort to monitor and control the bank's exposure to risk. In essence, Sam is a global process-to-process system, enabling two or more processes or applications to communicate directly - storing, transferring, and displaying data. For instance, in-house applications, spreadsheets, and other programs could receive information they required from other systems.
