Wells widens sales of stamps at ATMs.

SAN FRANCISCO - Wells Fargo Bank, which launched a postage stamp purchasing program for customers of its automated teller machines last September, announced that other banks' customers can now buy stamps at the ATMs.

The Program could reach up to 95% of ATM users in California, or 20 million people, said Ross Kari, senior vice president of Wells.

NCR Corp.'s ATMs located at every Wells branch and accounting for nearly 700 of the bank's 1,800 machines in California, carry the added stamp feature. Wells also has 60 new Inter-Bold ATMs, most of which are in WalMart stores, that will dispense stamps by late January.

A "BUY STAMPS" key on the ATM screen lets customers make their purchase. Fees will be deducted automatically from cardholders' deposit accounts. Noncustomerss may face an additional fee imposed by their own bank for using Wells Fargo ATM.
