USAA denies plan to dump a lender.

Contrary to reports from some lenders, USAA says it has no plans to rejigger the lending program it runs with two mortgage companies.

USAA, a major financial concern based in San Antonio, makes loans available to present and former military officers through First Union Mortgage Corp., Charlotte, N.C., and PHH US Mortgage, Mount Laurel, N.J.

Some sources have said USAA was considering replacing one of those lenders. But a USAA spokesman, John Walmsley, said no changes would be made.

In October, Mr. Walmsley said, USAA had considered adding a third lender to handle increased volume. He declined to elaborate.
