Citibank closes sale of data base unit.

NEW YORK -- Citibank has completed the sale of its financial data base subsidiary, Fame Software Corp., to a company formed by E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., and Silberstein & Co.

The company, renamed Fame Information Services Inc., will be controlled by Warburg Pincus and current management and employees. It is a leading provider of time-series, client-server data base technology, along with comprehensive securities and econometric data.

"The staff and management team of Fame are key to the continued success of the company," said Steven Silberstein, the data base company's chairman and chief executive officer. "With a new level of investment and visibility, Fame will expand its role as a premier supplier of mission-critical technology and financial information."
