Rates paid on fixed annuities sold though banks jumped in mid-April, marking the second month of gains, according to Keneneth Kehrer & Associates.
The average base rate paid on fixed annuities rose to 5.41% from 5% in the middle of March, the Princeton, N.J., consulting firm said. And the one-year bonus rate paid by some insurers climbed to an average of 6.42% from 5.9% a month earlier.
All 42 annuities that Kehrer tracks raised their rates this month. The firm compiles its data by polling leading insurance companies that offer annuities through banks.
