Premier Bancorp absorbs Heritage units.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Premier Bancorp said it has completed the merger of Heritage Financial Corp. and its subsidiaries into banking units of Premier.

William A. Marbury Jr., Heritage's chairman, was elected a director of the $5 billion-asset Premier Bancorp.

Heritage had four banks - Ruston State Bank and Trust Co., Heritage Bank of Natchitoches, Heritage Bank of Morehouse, and D'Arbonne Bank and Trust Co. - with 10 offices and $432 million of assets.

The acquired bank became the north central region of Premier Bank. The region is headed by John E. Maxwell, previously president and chief executive officer of Heritage.
