Software Alliance establishes unit in Kuala Lumpur.

Software Alliance Corp. has opened a subsidiary in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In a move to expand its service area to the Asia/Pacific region, the Berkeley, Calif.-based firm will now actively pursue client relationships in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, and China.

The firm has named four employees to man the new subsidiary, SAC Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd.

Paul Allen was named general manager for the customer support and services division.

Mr. Allen, with 30 years industry experience, has worked for Software Alliance for the past four years and has lived in Malaysia, India, and Indonesia for more than three years. He has direct responsibility for all Asia/Pacific software implementation projects, maintenance, and customer services.

Stanley Lim was appointed general manager for the sales and support division. Mr. Lim, a resident, of Malaysia has worked in technology and banking for more than 18 years.

He will oversee marketing and sales support and is targeting financial institutions that include large commercial banks, finance companies, and medium- to small-sized retail banks.

Joining Mr. Lim is Paul Leong, senior manager for the sales and support division. He has more than 15 years experience in information systems. Prior to joining Software Alliance in January, Mr. Leong was a consultant at a Big Six consulting firm in Malaysia. Mr. Leong is responsible for sales support.

Mae-Fong Chung was appointed a technical consultant. She joined the company in September.
