J.P. Morgan publications available electronically via Adobe's Acrobat.

Adobe Systems Inc. announced this week that J.P. Morgan & Co. has established an on-line forum to deliver research publications electronically to its clients in the Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format.

The forum is carried by Compuserve Information Services and uses Adobe Acrobat Exchange software to reproduce and distribute electronically the company's global economic and securities research reports exactly as they are published on paper.

J.P. Morgan publishes a variety of research reports each month, covering economics, fixed-income and equity securities, and commodities for all of the world's major markets.

Reports are issued from New York, Europe, and Asia.

Most of its clients currently receive a variety of Morgan's reports, either by mail or by facsimile.

Clients may now also obtain electronic copies, in PDF format, of any research report published by Morgan at any time, from anywhere in the world, using the electronic forum established on the Compuserve system.

"The development of J.P. Morgan's Compuserve Research forum, which employs Adobe Acrobat technology, will allow Morgan to deliver research periodicals to its clients electronically in PDF format anywhere in the world, at any time," said John Warnock, chairman and chief executive officer of Adobe Systems.

"The ability to transfer a document intact across multiple platforms, and without compatibility conflicts or loss of format, benefits both Morgan and its clients."

Any J.P. Morgan client with a subscription to Compuserve, a personal computer, and a modem can gain access to the Research Bulletin Board.

Reports are listed on the Research Bulletin Board by subject and date, and can be viewed on the system in Adobe's PDF file format, the cornerstone of the Adobe Acrobat cross-platform viewing technology.

Adobe Acrobat is a family of products that enables electronic document communication, regardless of hardware or software.

With Acrobat software, people can create, read, navigate and print fully formatted digital documents from the computer system of their choice.

Morgan hopes that, over time, the Research Bulletin Board will reduce the number of paper reports it sends to clients, saving production, printing, and mailing costs.

J.P. Morgan & Co. provides a range of financial services to corporations, governments, financial institutions, institutional investors, professional firms, privately held companies, not-for-profit organizations, and financially sophisticated individuals.

The firm's activities include corporate finance, global securities sales and trading, market risk management, global asset management, and operational services.

Adobe Systems Inc., founded in 1982, is headquartered in Mountain View, Calif. Its 1993 revenue exceeded $313 million.

Adobe develops, markets, and supports computer software products and technologies that enable users to create, display, print, and communicate electronic documents.

The company licenses its technology to major computer and publishing suppliers and markets a line of type and application software products.
