CR Systems introduces high-speed branch link.

CR Systems Corp. has introduced the Bank Branch CommServer, which is designed to enhance communications between bank branch offices and headquarters.

The system enables a branch office's local area network workstations to communicate with any host computer or application server, whether local or remote. The communications server links mainframes to newer client-server technology.

Bank Branch CommServer consolidates multiple lowspeed lines into one highspeed line, up to 2.048 megabits per second, improving the performance of automated teller machines and teller terminals. The personal computer, which runs the company's software, permits fast communication over high-speed telephone lines between a bank's headquarters and its branches. This allows workstations to access applications, such as signature verifications or electronic mail, that run on the host computer.

The typical branch configuration requires a number of different lines for security systems, ATM traffic, manned tellers, and other terminals. Personal computers and terminals must be attached to a host on a LAN internet to access widely used applications such as e-mail. CommServer consolidates traffic from the different systems so that each branch can access information over a single phone line.

Atlanta-based CR Systems develops data communications products, with an emphasis on providing open networking solutions.
