Financial Management Advisors hires Anat Bird.

Anat Brid, the consultant and expert on super community banking strategy, has left BDO Seidman to join Financial Management Advisors, a New York based consulting firm.

Ms. Bird became one of four partners in the independent firm, adding her consulting practice to specialties that include strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, reengineering, and financial management and advisory services.

The other partners are Jon Howell, Rosemary Johnson, and Jeff Lynn. Mr. Lynn said Ms. Bird's strengths in community and super community banking "complement our skills and experience in business process redesign and reengineering." The firm has a staff of 20 professionals.

Ms. Bird worked at BDO Seidman for four and a half years, and was national director of financial institutions consulting. She has also worked for Marine Midland Banks Inc. and a predecessor of Ernst & Young.

She wrote the book "Super Community Banking: A Super Strategy for Success," and writes a column every other week in the American Banker on banks that have adopted that mix of centralized operations with decentralized decision-making.
