Chrysler, Chase in purchase test.

Chrysler Corp. has signed an agreement with Chase Manhattan Corp. to use Chase's new purchasing card in a six-month pilot program.

Chrysler will release the Chase purchasing card for use by the entire organization in 1995 if it the test proves successful, company officials said.

Chase announced last week that it would offer its corporate customers a Visa purchasing card designed for small ticket items.

So far, 12 large corporations have conducted pilots with the Chase procurement product.

Chrysler said it chose the Chase purchasing card over competitive cards because of Chase's willingness to adapt to meet Chrysler's internal needs.

"The Chase Purchasing Card will equip Chrysler with the data to help them radically rethink the way they handle purchasing decisions," Deborah Talbot, senior vice president of Chase's global payment and treasury services group.
