Wheat named as chairman of United Oklahoma.

Willis J. Wheat has been elected chairman of the board of United Bank of Dei City, Okla., and its holding company, United Oklahoma Bankshares.

Mr. Wheat fills the vacancy left by Morrison G. Tucker, who died in early May. Shareholders named his widow, Gladys Tucker, as a director of the holding company and the bank.

William P. Dowling continues as president and chief executive officer of the bank.

Mr. Wheat had been executive vice president and director of marketing for Liberty National Bank and Trust Co., Oklahoma City, where he was an officer for 23 years. He was also a senior vice president of Liberty's holding company, Banks of Mid-America.

More recently he has been T.K. Hendrick Distinguished Professor of Management and Marketing at the Meinders School of Business of Oklahoma City University.
