Comptroller names Barton chief national bank examiner.

WASHINGTON -- Jimmy Barton is the new chief national bank examiner, replacing Don CoonIcy, who is moving to Kansas City as the deputy comptroller for the midwestern district.

Mr. Barton has been deputy comptroller for multinational banking for three years, developing large-bank examination procedures and generally overseeing the country's biggest national banks.

He has nearly 25 years of experience with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Mr. Coonley has been the chief national bank examiner for six years. He joined the agenc: in 1974 in its Richmond, Va., office, moved to Miami and then to Washington in 1988.

In Kansas City, Mr. Coonley is replacing Jack Powers, who is retiring from the OCC after 29 years.
