Chase unit to expand equity investing.

NEW YORK -- Chase Capital, a unit of Chase Manhattan Corp., said it will expand its equity investment activities over the next few years and expects to invest as much as $100 million in 1994.

The unit said it has dedicated a large pool of capital to its investment goals and has already committed more than $35 million in equity investment this year. It said it will primarily target middle-market companies based in the United States.

Chase Capital comprises the primary private equity investing subsidiaries of Chase Manhattan Corp.
