NCR of Pittsburgh opening Salt Lake City office.

A Pittsburgh-based lender is targeting Utah for its next expansion effort. NCR Mortgage Finance Inc., a mortgage company with $2.3 billion in servicing, said it was opening an office in Salt Lake City to cultivate real estate agencies and builders, along with retail customers.

The company plans to have 10 to 12 professionals in its new office.

It is also considering offices in Promo and Ogden "if they are warranted and cost effective," said Bob Parks, a Utah native who will manage the Salt Lake City branch.

He had previously been with Freedom Mortgage Corp., Salt Lake City, and California-based North American Mortgage Co.

Utah has been identified as a high-growth area and is attracting an increasing population of lenders.

NCR emphasized that it was a direct lender, not a broker, and would be offering special programs for home builders, including builder commitments, guaranteed rates, and construction loans.

NCR has offices in 17 states.
