PNC names president of Provident Capital.

PNC Bank Corp. has tapped Young D. Chin to be chief of Provident Capital Management Inc., the bank's international investment management unit.

Before being named president and chief executive of Provident, Mr. Chin was director of investment strategy for PNC Investment Management and Research, the bank's money management unit.

He joined the Pittsburgh banking company from Harris Bankcorp. in Chicago, where he was director of the investment consulting and analytics practice. In that role, he worked with large institutional clients, such as pension funds and foundations.

In his new post, Mr. Chin will help develop PNC's international money management business,

Founded in 1978, Provident Capital oversees $7 billion in assets and manages $2.3 billion for institutions, common trust funds, and mutual funds.
