ORLANDO -- BankAmerica Corp. said it acquired technology to support the implementation of a system to advance the company's integrated electronic banking strategy.
BankAmerica said the so-called Electronic Commerce System is the product of an alliance between Tandem Computers Inc., which provided the system hardware, and National Data Corp., which licensed a specialized release of its Global Exchange system software to BankAmerica.
Begun last November, the multimillion-dollar project will integrate electronic data interchange, telecommunications, check printing, and mailing services.
The first phase is expected to be operational this summer.
