Senate passes Consumer Reporting Act.

WASHINGTON -- The Senate passed the Consumer Reporting Act on a vote of 87 to 10 Wednesday.

The bill would modernize the Fair Credit Reporting Act mainly by requiring credit bureaus to investigate and update within 30 days information disputed by consumers. Banks oppose the bill because it will add to their reporting burden.
