Western Union, EIS in automation pact.

Western Union Financial Services has formed an alliance with EIS International Inc. to provide automated access to Western Union's urgent messaging and rapid payment products.

"This alliance will provide the collection industry with the ability to boost their collections and improve the productivity through automated access to Western Union's communications and payment products for all stages of delinquency," said Marcus Cudina, vice president of marketing and development at Western Union.

"The partnership will allow us to offer our clients an integrated approach to their collection process and is an important element in providing a total collection solution," said Mr. Cudina.

The alliance will allow EIS users to transmit files directly to Western Union, which will generate urgent messages such as mailgrams, priority letters, and automated voice telegrams through the EIS System 7000 call automation system.

Stamford, Ct.-based EIS International provides outbound call center technology for financial services, fund raising, and telemarketing.

Western Union is based in Paramus, N.J., and is the leading provider of money transfer services through more than 24,000 agents worldwide.
