SBS signs first customer for Georgia data center.

SBS Data Services Inc., a provider of outsourcing services to banks, didn't have to go far to find the first customer for its new Atlanta-area data center.

It has signed $45 million-asset Eastside Bank and Trust Co., which is housed in the same Snellville building as the outsourcer's Georgia operations.

SBS Data Services, based in Birmingham, Ala., was formed in the first quarter of this year to provide data processing services to community banks.

The new company is a subsidiary of SBS Corp., a software developer specializing in the design and implementation of optical disk storage technology.

SBS Data Services is processing for Alabama-based banks from its Birmingham office.

According to SBS' marketing director, Bob Kirk, other data center locations throughout the Southeast are currently in the planning stages. Mr. Kirk said he expects SBS to be servicing approximately 30 community banks by the end of the year.

SBS Data Services runs Kirchman Corp.'s Dimension Software on AT&T System 3000 hardware. Dimension is an integrated, turnkey banking solution. It offers capabilities for transaction processing, loan and deposit processing, customer and executive information analysis, and regulatory compliance.
