U.S. Order president joins parent's board.

HERNDON, Va. -- John C. Backus, who was named president of U.S. Order when the home electronic services company recently entered into an alliance with Visa International, has been elected a director of U.S. Order's parent, Worldcorp Inc..

The board seat had been vacant since a retirement earlier this year. Mr. Backus replaced D. Fraser Bullock as U.S. Order president and chief operating officer when Mr. Bullock became president of the business unit that Visa acquired for its home-banking business, now known as Visa Interactive.

Mr. Backus moved from Worldcorp to U.S. Order upon its inception in 1990 and led in the development of strategic partnerships with Visa and with Knight-Ridder Inc.

Before joining WorldCorp, Mr. Backus worked in Bain and Co.'s consulting and venture-capital groups.
