Hibernia nameplate on acquired units.

NEW ORLEANS -- Hibernia National Bank has put its signs in place of those of First National Bank of Jefferson Parish, signaling the final step in the banks' merger and giving Hibernia more Jefferson locations - 21 - than any other bank.

The Hibernia Corp. unit also is Jefferson's largest in assets and market share, serving six cities on both sides of the Mississippi River: Metairie, Kenner, Harahan, Gretna, Westwego, and Marrero.

Following the completion of all pending mergers, Hibernia said it would have 147 banking locations statewide, $6.2 billion of assets, and more than 14% of statewide deposits.
