Intercept Signs Up Two Southern Banks

To help them compete with larger financial institutions, two community banks have recently selected Intercept as their processor for funds transfer, automated teller machine, and point of sale debit transactions.

State Bank and Trust, a $100 million-asset bank based in Brookhaven, Miss., selected Intercept to handle clearing on its ATM network and to support its Visa check program. The Visa program gives customers 24-hour ATM access and enables participating merchants to debit funds from a card holder's checking account to pay for goods and services.

Intercept will enable the bank's customers to use the Plus network, accessing more than 182,000 ATMs worldwide. The ATM service will begin in June, and the Visa check program will be up and running by September.

Through Intercept's service, Cross Keys Bank of St. Joseph, La., will be able to provide customers with access to thousands of ATM terminals in both national and regional networks. The bank, with more than $90 million in assets, is connected to the Cirrus and Pulse networks.
