Short Takes: Trade Group Honors One of Its Founders

A Signet Banking Corp. executive has won an award for "elevating the integrity and competence of the investment profession."

Wallace B. Millner, chief financial officer at the Richmond, Va., bank company, received the Daniel J. Forrestal 3d Leadership Award, a commendation from the Association for Investment Management Research.

Mr. Millner was honored for helping form the association, which is based in Charlottesville, Va. In a press release, the group said he had been instrumental in merging two other groups in 1990 - the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts and the Financial Analysts Federation.

"In the period leading up to the merger, Millner played a dominant role in setting the professional and ethical standards that have become the association's foundation," the group said.
