CIT Group Promotes Leone to Executive VP

Joseph M. Leone has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of CIT Group, which is 60% owned by Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank Ltd. and 40% by Chemical Banking Corp.

He will succeed Joseph J. Carroll on July 1. Mr. Carroll is retiring after a 27-year career with the commercial and consumer lending organization.

Mr. Leone was executive vice president of CIT Group/Sales Financing. He joined CIT in 1986 as senior vice president and controller.

Thomas Hallman has been named president and chief executive officer of CIT Group/Consumer Finance. Mr. Hallman was president and director of Globe Mortgage Co.'s national production division, and previously held consumer finance and mortgage banking positions with Commercial Credit Corp.
