In Brief: Jefferson Savings Plans North Texas Subsidiary

ST. LOUIS - Jefferson Savings Bancorp has completed two of its three pending acquisitions in Texas.

The institutions are its first purchases since Jefferson converted to a stock institution in 1993.

Jefferson bought North Texas Savings and Loan Association, Denton, for about $27.5 million and First Federal Savings Bank of Longview for about $12.8 million.

The company expects to complete the third acquisition, that of Shelby- Panola Savings Association, Carthage, in July and will merge the three into a single federally chartered institution to be called First Federal Savings Bank of North Texas.
