Card Briefs: Western Transmedia Buys Oregon Card Franchise

SAN FRANCISCO - Western Transmedia Co. announced it has acquired the franchise for the state of Oregon from Transmedia Network Inc.

The transaction was consummated for 35,000 shares of Western Transmedia common stock.

Transmedia Network, North Miami, Fla., issues a charge card that entitles holders to a 25% savings on restaurant dining costs.

Western Transmedia initially acquired the franchise for the state of California in 1992, and in December 1993 acquired the franchise for Washington and parts of Nevada.

It plans to initiate operations in the Seattle-Tacoma area in the spring of 1996. Presently, Western Transmedia has operations in the San Francisco Bay area, Los Angeles, and Orange County, with about 75,000 cardholders and approximately 600 participating restaurants.
