Short Takes: Jackson Life's Bank Sales Of Annuities Surge 62%

Jackson National Life sold $170 million of annuities in the first half, 62% more than a year earlier.

Volume rose in tandem with client and staff additions, said Bradley Powell, vice president in charge of the Atlanta company's bank program.

Jackson National, which started making a push into banks last year, now counts UJB Financial and Depositors Financial as clients, Mr. Powell said.

The company also reaches community banks through selling agreements with marketers like Invest Financial Group and Independent Financial Marketing Group.

In addition to field personnel, Jackson National brought on telemarketers who all have prior experience with bank sales, Mr. Powell said.
