In Brief: Idaho Regulator Wins Accreditation Again

WASHINGTON - The Conference of State Bank Supervisors has reaccredited the Financial Institutions Bureau of the Idaho Department of Finance.

The department, under acting director of finance Gavin Gee, supervises 13 state banks with 174 branches and $6.37 billion in assets.

This is the second time the department has received accreditation.

The accreditation process seeks to strengthen state banking regulation based on uniform standards nationwide and demonstrate the quality of state regulation to the public, Congress, federal regulators, and other state agencies.

So far, 34 state banking departments are accredited, supervising 85% of the nation's state-chartered banking assets.
