FDIC Vote

The wait is over. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. plans to vote Aug. 8 on its plan to slash bank premiums by 83%. The industry has been anticipating this vote since January, when the reduction was first proposed.

Bank premium cuts were shoved aside for months while the FDIC worked with the Treasury Department on a rescue plan for the thrift insurance fund. That plan was unveiled last week.
