Tech Types: Trading Turret Maker Buys Networking Firm

NEW YORK - IPC Information Systems Inc., a leading manufacturer of trading room telecommunications systems, or turrets, announced last month it has acquired a controlling interest in a Wall Street networking firm.

IPC acquired the majority stake in International Exchange Networks Inc., which is building an international "virtual private network" that will allow securities trading firms to easily modify their communications systems to handle voice, data, and video transmissions. Financial terms were not disclosed.
