Card Briefs: Gascard-Phillips Deal Eases on-Site Processing

CARLSBAD, Calif. - Gascard Inc. said it signed an agreement with Phillips Petroleum Co. that will make it more convenient for Gascard fleet management customers to use Phillips 66 service stations.

As a result of the agreement, Gascard's software and the DataCard Model 780 electronic point-of-sale terminal will be able to process both companies' cards at Phillips-branded locations.

The Phillips stations gain the efficiencies of being able to rely on a single card-reading terminal.

"This new offering allows the Phillips distributor who is considering a fleet-card network a single solution compatible with its supplier, and the Gascard/Phillips marketer to streamline the equipment operations at its fuel sites," said Gascard president and chief executive officer Lindsay B. Holland.

"In addition, it supports all the major brands of island card readers, which can speed up and increase the traffic flow at and through the facility."

Queen Oil and Gas, a Gascard franchisee in New Mexico, has installed the interface in seven locations. It has "simplified our electronics and accounting and substantially increased our business," said Glen Waller, the franchisee's Gascard manager.
