Capital Briefs: 2 Former RTC Staffers Draw Terms in Prison

WASHINGTON - Two former Resolution Trust Corp. employees have been sent to prison for trying to steer agency contracts to a company one of them was creating.

In U.S. district court in Kansas City, Mo., last month, former RTC asset specialist Mary Jo McCoy of Richmond, Kan., was sentenced to 18 months in prison, and former RTC attorney Dallas Hainline of Overland Park, Kan., was sentenced to seven months.

According to the RTC, Mr. Hainline and Ms. McCoy devised a scheme in April and May 1992 to influence the awarding of service contracts to the accounting firm Grant Thornton, which would them subcontract work to File Trac Inc., a company that was to be owned and operated by Mr. Hainline.
