Card Briefs: First Data Will Expand Omaha, Tulsa Operations

OMAHA - First Data Corp.'s card services group has announced plans to expand its operations in Omaha and Tulsa.

In Omaha, where the company was founded, preparations will begin this month to build a 144,000-square-foot facility scheduled for completion in April. It will house portions of the group's mail and statement processing operation.

First Data said the facility would bring 400 jobs to Omaha over the next two years. The company has 6,500 employees there.

In Tulsa, where First Data bought Shell Oil's card operations in November 1992, the card services group said it will add up to 3,000 jobs over 10 years. First Data employs about 1,100 employees in Tulsa; the extra ones will work in the company's current facility.
