MAC and Buypass Transactions Surge

Electronic Payment Services Inc., the Wilmington, Del.-based owner of the MAC regional electronic network and the Buypass point of sale processor, said transaction volume grew fast in the second quarter.

The MAC network switched more than 230 million automated teller machine transactions in the quarter, 12% more than a year earlier. MAC point of sale volume increased 52%, to more than 16.3 million transactions.

Buypass processed 150 million transactions during the quarter. That included more than 900,000 electronic benefits transfer transactions, which rose 760% from March to June.

EPS set a record June 30, processing five million transactions.
