Bull Smart Card Unit In BalkanBank Deal

VIENNA, Va. - CP8 Transac, the smart card manufacturer owned by Groupe Bull of France, has signed a contract with BalkanBank of Bulgaria to deliver 31 cash dispensers equipped with smart card readers, plus over 300 point of sale terminals, and a number of PinPadLink terminals.

BalkanBank has issued more than 30,000 smart cards, with plans for 100,000 by the end of the year. The Eastern European bank is developing its own payment system based on electronic purse cards, electronic wallet cards, and debit cards.

CP8 Transac will also deliver 400 point of sale terminals to Moscovite Mitichinsky Commercial Bank in Moscow. Siberian Trade Bank is another CP8 customer.
