SHORT TAKES: Accidental Death Policy Plans Set Up for 3 Banks

ATLANTA - Coverdell & Co. has helped two banks implement accidental death insurance programs for their credit card customers and assisted another bank in establishing such a program for its checking account clients.

The Atlanta-based insurance marketing firm said it had worked with Baltimore-based First National Bank of Maryland to offer accidental death coverage to its 350,000 checking account customers doing business at branches in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Washington, D.C.

Coverdell said marketing materials explaining an accidental death insurance program have also been mailed around the country to the 400,000 credit card customers of First Omni Bank, Millsboro, Del.

Star Bank, Cincinnati, will introduce an accidental death insurance program to its 130,000 credit card customers in late September, a Coverdell spokesman said.
