Card Briefs: MasterCard and Most In Marketing Alliance

RESTON, Va. - The Most automated teller machine network, owned and operated by Internet Inc., has formed a marketing alliance with MasterCard International to promote the MasterMoney off-line point of sale debit program to Most members.

As a result of the alliance, five Most members already have joined the MasterMoney program.

Seminars on MasterMoney and other debit programs sponsored by MasterCard are a critical component of the alliance's integrated marketing program. In addition, implementation teams from MasterCard will help new MasterMoney issuers activate their off-line point of sale debit offerings and launch the program to consumers.

Most, which serves more than 550 financial institutions and 17 million cardholders in the eastern United States, also announced a new point of sale promotion, featuring discount coupons for Haagen-Dazs products.

Consumers who pay for purchases with a Most card at participating merchants can redeem the 55-cent coupons on Haagen-Dazs ice cream, yogurt, and sorbet products.

Such promotions have been a key to Most's marketing strategy and have contributed to the point of sale program's success, said Most officials. They report that up to 40% of cardholders are now using Most POS, compared to the national average of 12%.
