Northern Trust Name Executive

Northern Trust Co., Chicago, said James M. Snyder, senior vice president, has been named chief investment officer.

He has been with Northern Trust since 1969 and currently heads the bank's fixed-income group.

In his new position, Mr. Snyder will be responsible for investment policy and strategy for trust and investment advisory accounts.

The post of chief investment officer had been held by James L. Kermes, who resigned in July to become chief executive officer of Glenmede Trust Co. in Philadelphia.

Northern also appointed Lawrence P. Keblusek, senior vice president, director of portfolio management. He will report to Mr. Snyder. Mr. Keblusek will have overall responsibility for Northern Trust's domestic portfolio performance. He has been responsible for personal investments in Chicago.
