Card Briefs: Equifax in Pact with Star System Subsidiary

ATLANTA - Equifax Check Services has signed a letter of intent to use PrimePay, a check authorization service from Primary Payment Systems Inc., a new company formed by Star System Inc.

Equifax will use PrimePay to get current account information to merchants accepting checks at the point of sale. Equifax said its customers stand to gain significant savings by reducing fraud.

Primary Payment Systems of Phoenix uses information supplied by participating financial institutions on the status of checking accounts, including closed, purged, or nonexistent accounts.
