In Brief: Loan-Broker Association Plans a Data Network

PHOENIX - The National Association of Mortgage Brokers will soon hop onto the information superhighway.

The trade association is planning to get all its members onto a new communication system by summer, said Charles E. Eck, president. The system would dramatically speed up communications between brokers and mortgage bankers, the association said.

A final decision on the vendor has not been made. The group's executives are looking at a variety of systems, including Mixstar and Lender Interactive Online Network, or Lion. The search will also incorporate systems created by lenders such as Countrywide Credit Industries, Mr. Eck said.

Installation charges would be paid by an as-yet-unknown sponsor. Brokers would pay monthly charges to use it.
