Thrift Notes: Public 'Health Notices' No Longer Required

WASHINGTON - Thrifts no longer must publish reports of their financial condition in local newspapers, the Office of Thrift Supervision decided recently.

Last year, Congress repealed the publication requirement for commercial banks as part of a regulatory burden reduction initiative. To keep the rules for thrifts parallel, the OTS has waived its rule requiring thrifts to publish the data, effective immediately.
