CWM's Earnings Gained 27% in 3Q

PASADENA, Calif. - CWM Mortgage Holdings Inc. announced unaudited earnings of $13.5 million, or 33 cents a share, for the third quarter. The increase in share earnings was 27%. For the nine months ended Sept. 30, earnings were $35.7 million, or 91 cents a share, representing a 54% increase over earnings per share for the same period a year earlier.

The board of directors declared a cash dividend of 33 cents a share for the quarter, payable Dec. 1 to shareholders of record of Oct. 27. The company paid a cash dividend of 26 cents for the comparable quarter in 1994.

During the third quarter, the company purchased $843 million in jumbo and nonconforming loans through its conduit operations and sold loans in the form of real estate mortgage investment conduit securities totaling $1.2 billion.

CWM Mortgage Holdings is a real estate investment trust listed on the New York Stock Exchange that is managed by Countrywide Credit Industries.
