Short Takes: Dalbar Form Lists Queries Often Made to Fund Firms

A mutual fund research firm has introduced a standard form for bank brokerage executives who frequently request information about particular portfolios.

Dalbar Inc., Boston, has introduced a standard "request for proposal," a form of 200 questions banks commonly ask mutual fund companies.

Bank brokerages inundate fund sales executives with these forms before choosing portfolios to offer customers, as part of regular due diligence required by regulators.

"If you had RFPs on your desk from 200 different banks with 200 questions, each slightly different, that would be a nightmare," said Dalbar president Louis Harvey.
