3Q Earnings Up 29% At Software Firm AMS

Software and systems integration firm American Management Systems Inc. reported last week that its third-quarter earnings rose 29%, to $7.5 million.

Officials at Fairfax, Va.-based AMS said revenues for the three months ended Sept. 30 totaled $162.7 million, up 37% from the year-earlier period. The company's earnings were in line with Wall Street forecasts, according to First Call Corp.

"Our strong revenue growth in the third quarter was driven by a 58% increase in telecommunications and 43% increase in financial services revenues," said Paul A. Brands, chief executive of AMS, adding that international sales also boosted top-line growth.
