In Brief: Natwest Seen Unlikely To Buy Insurance Firm

LONDON - National Westminster Bank is unlikely to acquire Legal and General Group, a U.K. insurance company, said analysts.

Natwest is rumored to be in talks with several potential bidders for its U.S. subsidiary and is therefore unlikely to make a purchase.

Both National Westminster and Legal and General declined to comment on the bid rumors.

Natwest Bank already has insurance interests in the form of Natwest Life.
